Art 1

Art 1 is your starting point, your gateway to the BHS art world. Art 1 is offered to both beginner artists and budding artists. Students will find ample opportunities for creative development no matter their art experience. While the focus is on the elements and principles of design there is a strong drive to refine existing skills, learn new tools and techniques, connect the art happenings of the past with the present, the worldly with the local. Art 1 aids in self-discover and encourages the creation of work that represents you as an individual. Students will get a taste-test of many different art media including: pencil, charcoal, conte crayon, pastel, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic painting, printmaking, mosaic, ceramics, sculpture and much more. 

Art can be fulfilling and fun but like other courses, you are expected to work hard for your grade. In the end, you'll have memories and artwork to show for your efforts.

With a passing grade in Art 1, you can take either Crafts 1 or Art 2 the following year!
With an A average in Art 1, you will be invited to join National Art Honor Society (NAHS) the following year!
